  Handing out candy

  growing up my parents would barricade our home off by parking vehicles bumper to bumper - you would have to crawl under the cars or over the bumpers to get to our door.

  also, we would turn off all the lights and hide in the back room away from the street.. that was the norm for me.

  isnt that insane?

  Growing up we would go out to eat or turn off all the lights like we weren't home.

  its been a little over 2 years since i left the watchtower.

  in that time the magazines have been cut, the birth of jwtv, jw-org.

  carts for preaching, removed district overseers, cut assemblies, demand all the money from the congregations, stop construction and layoff bethelites, change the format of the tmschool .

  I was around in the 70s-80s when they said it was wrong for married couples. I saw a lot of divorces because it was considered fornication.

  This weeks service meeting! More craziness.....

  so this weeks service meeting is so full of "crazy".

  a whole 15 min part devoted to trying to indoctrinate everyone on how to "explain our beliefs on 1914".

  then another 15 min part called "a tool to help us explain our beliefs about 1914".

  i'am sure you have come across someone with that type of personality, working in sales, clerk, waitress or waiter.

  most are nice but once in a while you come across that person that needs to choose a different career.. this morning i met that person, she just screwed up my day.

  i'm thinking maybe her day wasn't a good start,a fight with her husband, bills or children but don't screw up my day.

  my thoughts.

  -Increasingly the only jobs people can find is part time retail/customer service; this includes unskilled workers as well as older people that are overqualified for these positions. To work in a 'better' job like an office, warehouse or skilled labor you have to be able to work/produce or have the skill needed for those positions.

  -I think a huge amount of the population are on mind altering medications that slow cognitive function. Doing nothing more taxing to their mind during their downtime than watching reality TV and posting cat memes doesn't help matters.

  -More people today in general seem to not want to be helpful or productive and will not go out of their way to help anyone.

  so the last two watchtower studies talked about circumcision as a mark of god's people.

  i thought it was weird why they would pick that as a mark.

  why dont they chop of their earlobe er something.

  Men that would go down to the sea or river to bathe or swim would likely have seen each other naked. They also had mikvehs for ritualistic bathing on certain occasions, including the evening after every ejaculation. Imagine the line.

  Later, when there were established cities there were public baths where this certainly would have happened.

  American Sniper - courage or cowardice?

  the movie american sniper is breaking box office records and of course there is some irony that a movie about a sniper is released on martin luther king day (who was shot by one).. but of course there is a world of difference between an assassin and a military sniper ... or is there?.

  some are making a big stink about it and claiming that "snipers are cowards".

  it seems unfair to me.

  J dub,  respectfully i say its clear you havent seen either american sniper or hurt locker. Neither of those films glorifies the iraq war any more than schindler's list glorifies ww2. Those two movies are rather stark portrayals of the toll war takes on individuals and in particular the haunting choices made by soldiers (one fictional, one historical) in iraq.

  Yea...my comment made clear I have not seen said movies. Not interested in seeing the 'haunting choices' made by people that are willing to murder for statism. And the 'historical' one based on a proven liar to boot.

  Not seeing it. Have no desire to watch post 911 war propaganda.

  Same with BlackHawk Down, Zero Dark Thirty, Hurt Locker, etc etc.

  Jw still believe 4026 B.C.E as Adams creation...?

  i was doing some "research" and came across jw articles that all talk about 4026 b.c.e as adams creation.

  it even went as far as to state, "there are no actual records of ancient man, his writing, agriculture, and other pursuits, extending into the past before 4026 b.c.e., the date of adams creation.

  since the scriptures outline mans history from the very creation of the first human pair, there can be no such thing as prehistoric man.

  The Pharaonic dynasties of the Egyptian civilization alone goes back to 3200 BCE, supported by actual historical records. Evidence of Egyptian pre-history dates to around 6000 BCE.

  Evidence of ancient Sumerians goes back to 6500 BCE with written records also at 3200 BCE.

  Mesoamerica has evidence of maize cultivation by 5100 BCE.

  There are/were trees in California over 5000 years old. 

  They simply ignore facts to support their timeline.

  Early 80s was the first time I became aware of movies in production due to mentions in popular magazines like People. 

  I distinctly remember very soon after Empire reading a mention that the next film would be Revenge of the Jedi due out in three years and thinking that Armageddon would be here before then.
